Our country is entering a market that is in high demand at this time. The Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitalization, Bogdan Ivan, announced the signing of a major contract that provides for investments of 130 million euros, European funds, for the creation of three state-of-the-art semiconductor production lines in Romania. The project represents a significant step towards consolidating the country's position on the map of global technological innovation.
• Semiconductors "Made in Romania"
The signing of this contract marks an important milestone in the technological field in Romania, which will begin the production of semiconductors - essential components for smart equipment, from smartphones to autonomous cars. The main production location will be the National Institute for Microtechnology in Bucharest, with the support of five renowned universities and 21 innovative Romanian companies. "Semiconductors are the brains of every smart device. Through this investment, Romania is strengthening its role in the global technology industry," emphasized Bogdan Ivan.
• Inter-institutional collaboration
Minister Ivan highlighted the support of the Ministry of European Investments, led by Adrian Câciu, in the realization of this ambitious project. "Together, we are putting Romania on the map of global innovation," said Ivan, underlining the importance of collaboration between ministries for attracting and efficiently using European funds.
• Impact of the investment on the economy and technology
This initiative has the potential to position Romania as an important player in the semiconductor industry, a strategic sector worldwide. In addition to strengthening the economy by creating jobs and attracting talent, the project will also contribute to reducing Europe's dependence on semiconductor imports, a problem highlighted in the context of recent supply chain crises. Through this investment, Romania aims to become a regional hub for research, development and production of advanced technology, opening up new opportunities in the digital and innovation sector.
