TAROM to cut expenses by 650,000 USD a year

On September 1st, 2009, TAROM began the implementation of the Winglet system on all its four Boeing 737-700 airships which are part of the company"s fleet. TAROM currently also owns 737-800 Boeing, which came with the Winglet system as standard. The implementation of the Winglet system on the four Boeing 737-700 aircraft will help cut fuel consumption by approximately 1,000 metric tons a year or the equivalent 650,000 USD a year. The four aircraft mentioned fly approximately 12,000 hours a year.

This measure is one of several that the company plans to implement in order to cut costs and streamline the operation of aircraft with a view of cutting fuel and consumption and reducing their environmental impact.

TAROM covers over 40 destinations in Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East.

The company owns one of Europe"s youngest fleets. It comprises 26 aircraft: three BOEING 737-800, four BOEING 737-700, four BOEING 737-300, four Airbus A318-111, two Airbus A310-325, seven ATR ATR 42-500 and two of type ATR 72-500.
