Volksbank Leasing Romania financed assets worth 155 million EUR in the first nine months of the year, up by some 15% y/y following an increase in the number of contracts, Marketing Manager Octav Dumitrescu told NewsIn.
"Volksbank Leasing Romania concluded 8,800 new contracts in the first nine months of the year, up by approximately 15% compared to the corresponding period of 2006," said Dumitrescu. He added that the company"s portfolio comprised some 38,000 contracts, of which 88% concerned cars and utility vehicles.
"These results were obtained in the context that car sales financed through leasing decreased by 25% y/y because most people preferred to pay cash or through loans," he said. Ranked by importance, cars, trucks and industrial equipment account for the majority of the assets financed by Volksbank Leasing Romania.
At the end of last year, the company reported to have paid 6 million EUR in taxes and to have expanded their network to 13 units in the largest cities in the country. VB Leasing Romania is controlled by VB Leasing International, a member of Osterrechische Volksbanken AG, (80%), followed by Volksbank Romania SA with 20%.
