Swedish security systems manufacturer Autoliv intends to expand production capacity in Romania by opening another two production facilities in Lugoj, Timisoara County. According to the Lugoj Town Hall, business in the two new facilities will probably begin in October, following investments of 30 million EUR.
Autoliv has bought 10 hectares of land in Lugoj and will build two facilities to produce safety belts, airbags and car cabling. Autoliv Romania was established in 1997 and is currently controlled by Autoliv Beteiligungsgesellschaft. Other shareholders are Autoliv East Europe, Autoliv Kft., Autoliv Sicherheitstechnika and Autoliv BV&Co. In addition to the operations in Lugoj, the company also operates a factory in Brasov.
