EnglishThe OTE Group today announced the financial results of the mobile telephony operator "Cosmote" Romania. Thus, the operating loss of the company"s domestic division decreased 58.1% compared to 2008, to 22.1 million Euros, from almost 53 million Euros.
The revenues of "Cosmote Romania", increased 36.1% in 2009, to 432.2 million Euros, from 311 million Euros in 2008.
"We are very happy with the company"s performance in the last year, given the unstable economic environment and the extremely saturated and competitive market", said Konstantinos Apostolou, CFO "Cosmote" Romania. According to him, the evolution of the company reflects adequate business planning an the ability to adapt and react to a difficult environment. "We are still leaders when it comes to attracting new clients and to portability, as we are supported by a strong distribution network and by the most relevant portfolio of products and services. The success we had in 2009 will allow us to face the challenges of 2010, which is the year when we will focus on the corporate segment and on the high bandwidth services", the "Cosmote" Romania representative said.
The number of customers of the company increased last year by 17.4% YOY, from roughly 5.9 million to around 6.92 million. According to the company, in Q4 alone, "Cosmote" Romania attracted almost 321,000 customers, reaching a market share of more than 23%, results which are partly due to the takeover of Zapp.
