The American group Greenline Industries and Romanian vegetable oil producer Ulerom Vaslui, controled by businessman Adrian Porumboiu, announced yesterday the official inauguration of the Vaslui-based biodiesel facility, the first such project in Eastern Europe.
With a production capacity of 7.5 million gallons (approximately 25,000 tons) a year, the new facility will help Romania comply with EU standards, which entails a 2% biodiesel input into petroleum products. By 2010, the percentage of biodiesel in petroleum products must increase to 5-6%.
The new facility will use Ulerom"s recently upgraded rapeseed, sunflower and soy oil production facility. The company processes about 12,000 tons of seeds a month.
Greenline Industries designs, produces and delivers biodiesel production technology. Currently, the group has over 26 plants under contract in sizes ranging from 3 to 60 million gallons a year.
