Constantin Rotaru, president of the Mittal Steel Iasi Union "Virgil Sahleanu", said he will begin legal action against the company management in order to obtain a 100% pay rise for hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays. The union has also demanded that paid time off for family emergencies be granted at employee"s request, within 45 days from the respective event. The company"s management rejected both demands and consequently, the union will take legal action against the company.
The Iasi-based steel pipe factory is controlled by Mittal Steel Group, which holds 63,98% in the company. The other significant shareholders are the Authority for State Assets Recovery, with 17,49% and SIF Moldova, with 15,31%.
