MTI will conclude an agreement with Raiffeisen Bank for funding infrastructure investments

N.I.

The Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure (MTI) will enter an agreement with Raiffeisen Bank by the end of this month to attract funding needed for investments in infrastructure, officials from the Ministry said on Friday, as quoted by NewsIn.

"I have tried to come up with a solution and we have already concluded agreements with two banks. The next step is the signing of the memorandum of understanding with the third bank, because it is imperative to attract the necessary funds for the completion of the main infrastructure projects", Radu Berceanu, the minister of transportation and infrastructure said.

According to officials of the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure, representatives of the former and of the Ministry of the Economy signed a memorandum of understanding with BRD-Groupe Société Générale on April 9th, that creates the cooperation framework for raising the financial backing for accomplishing some major investment projects in infrastructure and energy. "The Romanian government is thus taking the steps intended for public investments in the energy and infrastructure projects, as set by the Government Program for 2009-2012 and by the National Development Plan for 2007-2013".

The document was signed, at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Economy, by the Minister of Transports and Infrastructure, Radu Berceanu, the Minister of the Economy, Adriean Videanu, and the Chief Executive Officer of BRD-Groupe Société Générale, Patrick Gelin.

The Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure and the Ministry of the Economy have concluded a similar agreement with the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) in March.
