The Dutch Spar Group reported 6.1 million EUR in turnover from the Romanian subsidiary in 2006, the company"s first year on the local market.
Marketing coordinator Maria Gabor announced a partnership with GTC for the Galleria Centers mentioning that the Spar network had reached seven supermarkets - Arad, Resita, Deva, Odorhei and Alba Iulia - and one hypermarket in Targu Mures.
The company is planning to open 20 commercial centers this year for a total investment value of some 20 million EUR. Five of them will be located in Bucharest and the rest in Hateg, Ramnicu Valcea, Medias, Constanta, Orsova, Arad, Lugoj, Simeria, Turda, Targu Jiu, Drobeta Turnu Severin and Oradea.
On medium-term, the company intends to open 55 stores and then expand the network to 250 units. The average investment is 1.5 million EUR per site.
