CMU has invested 12 million euros in the Regina Maria Clinic and Maternity Hospital

The construction of Regina Maria GYN/OBS hospital is part of a large investment project initiated by the Unirea Medical Center in the Bucharest"s northern area. The program has also included the opening of the diagnosis and treatment Center, which was inaugurated recently. The accomplishment of both projects required a 12 million euro investment.

The founder of the Unirea Medical Center, Wargha Enayati, stated: "I wanted to make a maternity ward where the safety of the mother and of the newborn would be a match for the conditions the maternity wards in Western Europe provide. Our unit has qualified medical professionals and cutting edge medical equipment. We expect to reach a 2 million Euros for 2009, which is going to be our first year of operation ".

According to dr. Iosif Niculescu, the director of the Regina Maria Hospital, right now, the maternity ward is already booked for each month of next year, with 20 to 50births scheduled weekly. Mr. Niculescu further stated: "From a medical, technological, organizational, professional and logistical point of view, we can match any European clinic".

The management of the hospital estimates that this unit will see some 2000 births each year. Based on the type of birth and the rank of the assisting doctor, the price may vary between 1880 and 2930 Euros. The cost of a hospitalization. The cost of a full surveillance during the nine month pregnancy period, including birth assistance, will be around 3000 Euros. For private health system subscribers, the Unirea medical Center offers discounts, based on the package purchased.

The maternity ward has four stories, with a built area of 2000 sqm. The ward"s capacity is 60 beds, of which 30 will be allocated for mothers and 30 for children. The unit has a cutting edge operating block, birth room, intensive therapy room, neonatology, reserves and operating rooms. The technology, which entailed an expenditure of 1.5 million euros - matches the one in the similar clinics of France or Germany. The direct and total investment in the construction of the maternity is 5,5 million Euros.

This year, apart from the diagnosis and treatment Center of the Regina Maria maternity ward, CMU has inaugurated the first child polyclinic called CMU Kids, it opened the most developed medical imaging center in Bucharest and has begun expansion across Romania, by acquiring 49% of the Moţilor Medical Center of Cluj and 50% of AvaMedica of Constanţa.
