Processed meat producer Elit expects a turnover of 65 million EUR for the current fiscal year, a 30% increase from 50 million EUR in 2006, according to Florin Filipescu, Sales Manager. The company plans to invest approximately 8 million EUR this year in animal farms and another million EUR in its communication campaign. Last year, Elit invested 12 million EUR of its 20 million EUR investment budget in a meat processing plant located in Alba Iulia.
Elit was established in 2005 and, according to company officials, it is one of the major players in the meat and meat products market. The company has 900 employees and owns two processing plants, one animal farm and five meat stores. Elit"s portfolio consists of 150 products, of which approximately 70% are sold in Transylvania.
