Romania is making history in the world of educational technology! Young Romanians have climbed the global podium at the FIRST Championship 2025, the most important international robotics competition for high school students, informs the Ministry of Education. The event took place in Houston, United States, bringing together 256 teams from over 30 countries. Despite the fierce competition, all Romanian teams ranked in the TOP 10 in their divisions, bringing home not only trophies, but also national pride.
• Romanian alliances that conquered the podium
The remarkable performance was made possible by a collective, well-coordinated effort, which put Romania in the center of global attention. One of the most spectacular achievements was achieved by the alliance CSH Timişoara & Eastern Foxes Ploieşti, which climbed to 3rd place globally in the overall competition ranking. Also, the teams TehnoZ Piteşti and Alphatronic Cluj-Napoca dominated the division they were assigned to, occupying 1st and 2nd places, and during an official match, they also set a world record for scoring, an extremely rare and difficult performance to match in FIRST history.
• Heart of RoBots Buzău, division leader
Another Romanian team, Heart of RoBots Buzău, achieved a spectacular ranking - 6th place in the division and was designated Alliance Captain, an essential role in the competition strategy, offered to the highest-ranked teams in the knockout stages. Moreover, four teams from Romania won 1st place for a division award, and CSH Timişoara also won 2nd place for another award, demonstrating once again the exceptional level of STEM education in our country.
• The engine behind the success
The remarkable performances would not have been possible without the support of the Nation through Education program, launched in 2016 with the aim of introducing performance robotics in high schools in Romania. The program is actively supported by the Ministry of Education and is included in the official calendar of school competitions, which allows students to train and compete in professional conditions. "Congratulations to the students, mentors and the entire Nation through Education organization, who make it possible for Romania to be proudly represented in international competitions," the Ministry of Education said.
• The technological future is in good hands
The success of Romanian youth at the FIRST Championship 2025 is more than a victory in a competition: it is a validation of the investment in technological education, the passion for innovation and the collaboration between the educational system and private initiatives. These high school students are not only talented students, but true ambassadors of the future. Through their work, intelligence and creativity, Romania proves that it can be a top player in the field of educational robotics at a global level.
