Flamingo International, one of the leading electronics, IT and appliances retailer in Romania, estimates that sales of GPS-navigation devices will increase to some 50,000 units / 11 million EUR. Last year"s indicators were 25,000 units sold for 4 million vehicles registered in Romania. Considering this ratio and the fast growth of the number of newly registered vehicles, the Romanian market for such devices is deemed to have quite a large potential.
In addition, the decrease in the price of GPS-based navigation devices and the increase in the sales of compatible smartphones and PDAs is likely to lead to a two-fold increase in sales this year. The Flamingo network expects to sell some 15,000 navigation devices this year, according to CEO Jiri Rizek.
Flamingo secured 24% of this market last year and is aiming for 30% this year. The Mio DigiWalker generated 60% of the sales on this segment, followed by Gamin, my Guide and LG.
