Romanian-Dutch joint venture Gouda Gold will invest over 3 million EUR next year in increasing the production capacity of their factory in Sambata de Sus, Brasov County, from 45 tons to 75 tons of cheese per month. The company"s facility measures 13,500 square meters. The factory was commissioned in 2007 following an initial investment of 3 million EUR. The funds came from SAPARD (40%), equity (30%) and bank loans (30%). The factory produces traditional Dutch cheese and mozzarella. The output is distributed regionally and exported to Holland. Future plans include expanding the export area to Central and Eastern Europe and increasing the product portfolio. The milk comes from small family farms in the Sibiu - Brasov area. Last year"s turnover was 1.8 million RON. Expectations for this year point to 4 million RON.
