LaborMed Group acquires 12 brands owned by PlantExtrakt

Ozone Laboratories, a subsidiary of LaborMed Group, one of the major producers of generic pharmaceuticals in Romania, has signed a contract for the purchase of 12 brands produced by Cluj based company PlantExtrakt.

The product portfolio includes all the phytotherapeutical products produced by PlantExtrakt: Imunogrip, Imunorezistan, Artrophyt, Donavital, Sabalit, Sediphyt, Energotonic, Antialcool Plant, Antitabac Plant, Giardinophyt, Nicotan and Omega3. The newly acquired brands will be integrated into the Natural Ozone division, thus consolidating this business unit.

This transaction is part of the expansion strategy of LaborMed Group"s strategy to expand on the pharmaceutical market in Romania and in the region, by entering the natural remedies and preventive medicine market.

PlantExtrakt is the second acquisition of LaborMed, one month after it acquired the Ozone brand portfolio of generic drug makers OTC and Rx, which are currently sold in Romania and Central and Eastern Europe, (Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Slovakia). LaborMed entered an agreement with PlantExtrakt for producing and supplying the 12 products it acquired. The overall strategy of LaborMed Group features three distinct business units: LaborMed Pharma for prescription drugs (Rx), Ozone for OTC generic drugs and Ozone Natural for natural products (based on plant extracts). The major shareholder of LaborMed Group is Advent International, one of the world"s leading private equity companies. The amount of the transaction is confidential.
