Opel Sales in Romania Up 62% in First Six Months

Sales of the German brand Opel on the Romanian market rose by 62% in the first half of the year, amounting to approximately 7,800 cars, according to data published by General Motors (GM) Romania, quoted by NewsIn. The increase was due to a 70% rise in sales of the Astra Classic model.

General Motors Romania sold 7,811 Opel cars in the first half of 2007, recording a 62% increase from 4,800 units sold in the same period last year. The best-selling model was Astra Classic, with 3,835 units - up 69% from H1 2006. The new Corsa generation found 1,671 buyers in the first six months. Sales of the new Astra generation amounted to 1,467 units, according to data published by General Motors.

The accumulated sales of Opel and Chevrolet totaled 13,926 units in the first half of 2007, up 84% from 7,500 units sold in the same period last year. GM Romania estimates that accumulated sales of the two brands will total approximately 30,000 units this year.
