Step back: there will be no more betting ads at the next national team match

The debate about the expansion of betting houses in all directions, in which Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu took a very firm stance, does not go without consequences. A small step back is taken even in a very sensitive area, that of football. The Romanian Football Federation announces that together with Casa Pariurilor, they discussed the possibility of not running promotional announcements of the official sponsor of the National Team at the National Arena during the Romania - Andorra match since the announcement of UEFA sanctions on September 20, 2023. The discussion naturally arose due to the fact that only children under 14 years old will be admitted to the stadium: "Casa Pariurilor, our partner, which is a promoter of responsible gaming, understands the special situation in which this match is taking place and has decided to give up the advertising exposure they would have benefited from as the official sponsor of the Romanian national team. Therefore, the decision has been made that, in this match, children will not be exposed to sports betting ads. In the digital advertising program displayed on LED screens, Casa Pariurilor's messages will be replaced with the promotion of the social responsibility partnerships supported by the Romanian Football Federation. Other advertisements or billboards that we usually display for all FRF partners at National Team matches will not be present at the National Arena.

The FRF would like to thank Casa Pariurilor for understanding this situation and appreciates the willingness with which they suspended the sponsorship contract terms. Protecting children is a priority, as demonstrated by our partner in their current activities. Casa Pariurilor promotes responsible gaming through specific campaigns, and this is one of the components that underpins our partnership. Casa Pariurilor also has a special section on its website called "Play Responsibly,' and it is among the first companies in the Romanian betting industry to give up street advertising of its products.' In turn, the sponsor made a statement: "Casa Pariurilor will continue to support the Senior National Team and the Under 21 and Under 20 squads on their journey towards achieving their goals in a partnership that combines sports and responsible gaming.' We can say that this step back is a step forward from which society can benefit.
