Les Films de Cannes is bringing 18 feature films, 10 of which were directed by female filmmakers from Austria, France, Tunisia, and Italy, to the European Capital of Culture Timişoara in 2023, from October 18 to 22. Five of these films will be presented in Timişoara during the festival. In addition to these, the Timişoara audience will also have the opportunity to watch a selection of short films from Romania, directed by the well-known television actress Dana Rogoz in her directorial debut. Catrinel Dănăiaţă and Laura Baron will also be present in Timişoara, as announced by the organizers.
The event will also host the Gender Equality in Cinema Conference, aiming to discuss gender equality in cinema, both from an international and local perspective, featuring discussions with female directors, producers, actresses, casting directors, and film schools. The conference will have the participation of French film directors Delphine Gleize and Catherine Corsini, Chiara Malta from Italy, Catrinel Dănăiaţă, Laura Baron, Dana Rogoz in her dual role as an actress and director, actress Anamaria Marinca, casting director Ulrike Muller from Germany with an impressive career, and Julia Patry, a representative of the casting platform filmmakers.eu, providing the perspective of a young mother active in the casting world.
Managing Talents, a program dedicated to actors within Les Films de Cannes, will also have a special edition in Timişoara this year, featuring two masterclasses offered by Ulrike Muller and Julia Patry. Actor and acting trainer Julien Javions will conduct an interactive workshop where 18 participants will have the opportunity to work on-site using an innovative technique called "action analysis."
