Unilever has rented a 30.000 sqm area in Ploieşti West Park

Unilever is the first tenant of the industrial park Ploieşti West Park, developed by Alinso Group in association with Petrică Uşurelu, founder of the Piritex Group. The company, which operates on the consumer products market, has rented an area of 30,400 sqm, to serve as a distribution area. The company will pay approximately 1.5 million Euros/year for the area it rented.

The first hangar which will be occupied by Unilever, with a surface of 11,000 square meters, has already been completed, Ivan Lokere, CEO Alinso Group said in a conference yesterday. The construction of the other hangars which will be used by Unilever will begin in a few days. Marc Desenfans, head of Unilever for Central and Southern Europe, said that the two areas will become operational in the first half of 2010. He said that the new location has the benefit of proximity to Bucharest, and to the Unilever factory in Ploieşti.

Ivan Lokere currently said that negotiations are under way with other companies as well, but did not provide any names. Potential tenants are not just interested in price, but rather in access to utilities and infrastructure.

Spanning an area of 220 hectares, Ploieşti West Park incorporates a Business Park intended for logistics operations, light industrial manufacturing, and also has restaurants, hotels, offices a park as well as a retail area. The total estimated value of Ploieşti West Park exceeds 750 million Euros. The completion of this project will create around 16,000 jobs.
