Unilever will relocate production under the Kaliakra brand from Bulgaria to Romania as part of the company"s plan to concentrate production in strategic locations, capable to sustain the long-term growth strategy. Therefore, all production at the Dobrich factory in Bulgaria will end immediately and be relocated to the company"s industrial platform near Ploiesti, Romania, where Knorr, Rama and Delma are already in production.
Unilever also announced near-future discussions with the Dobrich factory to define severance and ways to offer professional advisory services, training and support to the employees seeking a new job. Some 100 employees will be affected. Unilever Central South Europe President Alexandra Gatej emphasized the importance of the Kaliakra brand within a successful regional portfolio and confirmed that the production relocation was not going to influence long-term investment plans related to one of the best known products in Bulgaria.
