The Navigable Canal Administration (ACN) SA will organize a tender to sub-concede 200 kilometers of shore along the Danube - Black Sea Canal. The tender will take place this autumn.
"According to Concession Contract MM/2712/2001 and in accordance with Law 219/1998, which has been abrogated in the meantime, sub-concession was prohibited. However, according to Emergency Ordinance of the Government no 54/2006 and Government Decision no. 168./2007, sub-concession is now allowed.
"The Ministry of Transportation has authorized us to sub-concede the shores. We have also agreed to sign a new concession contract with the Ministry.
"This means that we are extending the existing 42-year concession by another seven years. As soon as we sign it, we will identify the plots and start the tender in September or October," said Ovidiu Cupsa, General Manager of the Navigable Canal Administration SA.
"We"re looking to establish public - private partnerships with a view to developing the land through wind mills warehouses, docks, marinas, barge terminals, commercial areas, hotels and restaurants," he added.
