Losses incurred by airlines during the NATO Summit to be held in Bucharest could amount to tens of thousands of euros, according to representatives of Blue Air and My Air, who attended a meeting hosted by the Ministry of Transportation.

Blue Air CEO Gheorghe Racaru told NewsIn that the airline could incur losses of tens of thousands of euros during the three days when Baneasa Airport was going to be closed for the NATO Summit. He added that airlines chose to take the additional costs rather than cause chaos.

One particular problem he mentioned is related to moving the airplanes from the airport as they cannot either fly from/ to the airport or be parked there. The cost of such operation should be billed to the Government of Romania, airlines believe. In Racaru"s opinion, the airport itself is going to lose hundreds of thousands of euros in airport fees.

In turn, My Air CEO Antonio Iervolino told NewsIn that the company was going to lose some 30 flights during the three days of the NATO Summit to take place in Bucharest.
