The dollar is beginning to show the first signs of weakness, after more than a week of continuous appreciation, dropping 2.22 bani yesterday, down to 3.5274 lei/unit.
In Tuesday"s trading session, the dollar reached a historical high, with the Romanian National Bank announcing a price of 3.5496 lei/unit.
Since the beginning of the year, the dollar moved spectacularly, rising from 2.8 lei/unit to the record level of 3.5243 lei/unit, that was announced this week by the National Bank of Romania (BNR). The previous record was recorded on November 7 2003, when the dollar was quoted at 34.788 ROL (3.4788 RON).
The Euro/RON exchange rate followed a similar trend. It dropped 1.11 bani from Tuesday"s six month high, to 4.22 lei/unit.
