EnglishEnvironment authority Garda de Mediu has started a new inspection at Arcelor Mittal - Galati County. This is the third such inspection this year, following up on the measures decided at the previous inspection and verifying the completion of the nine actions due in 2007, as per the environmental license. One conclusion of the previous inspection was that the antiquated coke batteries were the main pollution source. The installations will be replaced by 2014. In 2008, Arcelor Mittal will demolish one of the coke batteries and build a new one in 18 months.
