The Banat Village Museum is hosting, from yesterday until Sunday, a chronological journey through the history of Europe, from Prehistory to the Modern Era, featuring war drums, swords, sabers, axes, cannons, muskets, craftsmen, and villagers, all brought back to life by numerous historical reenactment groups from Romania and abroad. According to the organizers, under the guidance of archaeologist Marius Barbu, there are workshops on experimental archaeology with prehistoric stone carving. Komakiza, the Dacian blacksmith, opens an ancient blacksmithing workshop, while Damanais brings a woodworking lathe workshop from ancient times, and Hrafnabroethr presents Viking navigators and warriors from the 10th century.
Additionally, the Istvan Losonczy Association opens the gates to the soldiers who defended Timisoara Fortress against the Ottoman expansion in the 16th century, and the Eyalet of Timisoara speaks about representatives of the Ottoman world, with which Timisoara entered a new era starting in 1552. Specimen Teatro from Italy presents "Canti d'amore e tarantelle" - Songs of love and tarantellas, traditional old music from the southern Peninsula. Historical camps will also be organized, and discussions will revolve around life in the commercial centers along the Volga River, land and water raids, as well as the slave trade in Kievan Russia in the 10th century. From the regions where the Siberian taiga, the steppes of Kazakhstan, and the Mongolian plains meet, a musical reenactment project will take you through the history, presenting the culture of Altaic peoples. Historical gastronomy will not be overlooked, and the secrets of crafting traditional masks and opinci (traditional footwear) will be revealed. Activities of infantry mercenaries from the first half of the 15th century, Italian mercenaries around the year 1500, nobles and Slovak soldiers from the 16th to 17th centuries, and Arnauts and other military typologies specific to the Balkan region at the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th centuries will also be showcased. All of this will take place in a cheerful atmosphere at the historical camps, accompanied by sound and light shows. The event will conclude on Sunday afternoon with the "Battle of the Centuries" - the clash of all soldiers from the historical camps, followed by troop salutes and honor salvoes.
