EnglishThe number of passengers that Lufthansa carried to and from Romania grew by 10% in 2008, to over 550.000, according to a press release by the company. Internationally, Lufthansa together with Swiss has carried over 70 million passengers, up 12,2 as against 2007. Starting in March 2nd this year, the company will introduce the new direct flight Bucharest - Milan.
Lufthansa will also double the number of flights between Cluj and Munich. Once the summer timetable is introduced, the multinational company residing in Germany will operate on this route twice a day with 70 seat CRJ 700 aircraft sporting Business and Economy class seats.
Thus, Lufthansa, together with its partner, Swiss, will offer 114 weekly flights from Romania to Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Geneva, Zurich and Milan during the 2009 summer schedule. Moreover, Lufthansa has announced new flight terms for the Sibiu - Munich route. The passengers will fly aboard modern CRJ 700 airplanes, which are already used in daily operatrion. Across Europe, some 54 million passengers have chosen Lufthansa for their travel, which means a 11% overall growth as against last year. Lufthansa Cargo has carried some 1,7 million tons of goods, down 6% from last year.
