Sorin Oprescu, the mayor of the city, yesterday summoned a meeting with the mayors of the city"s districts, debating the investment projects proposed for 2010, taxes, as well as issues pertaining to local administration. At the end of the meeting, mayors of Bucharest announced that the local administration would find it difficult to lay off people as it does not have enough employees. The mayors said they do not agree with the Law of Unified Wages because it prevents them from compensating their employees properly, especially after the elimination of meal tickets and overtime pay. Mayor Oprescu said investment projects will be coordinated by the Mayoralty of Bucharest and those of the city"s districts in tandem, and that parking spot fees will remain unchanged at 2009 levels.
