Port operator Romportmet SA Galati yesterday reported a net profit of 10.93 milion RON (3.3 million EUR) for the first quarter, up 2.8 times from 3.82 million RON in the same period last year, according to a report to Rasdaq quoted by NewsIn. Q1 turnover rose by 30% from the year-ago quarter, tolaling 16.47 million RON (5 million EUR). For Q1 2006, the company reported a net profit of 12.63 million RON.
For the fiscal year 2006, Romportmet posted a net profit of 35.802 million RON, increasing by 5.6% from the past year, when net earnings amounted to 33.9 million RON. Turnover rose by 9.2% year-on-year, totaling 63.912 million RON.
The company is listed on tier 2 of Rasdaq and has a share capital of 2.5 million RON. The majority shareholder is Mittal Steel Holding with 83.27% in Romportmet, followed by Sidex Trading with 11.5%.
