Prime Minister Tariceanu said Ford"s technical offer for Automobile Craiova was detailed, substantial and in line with the Government"s expectations. According to Tariceanu, it is not the price that matters, but the investments to be made after privatization.
"This is a major industrial project. We are interested in the economic effects that such enterprise can generate and not necessarily in the sale price. We need to consider that the investor will put 675 million EUR in the factory, reach an annual production of 300,000 cars and double the number of jobs," said Tariceanu.
He stressed that the Government was looking to create a second pillar of the country"s auto industry, keeping in mind that the auto industry was a strong driver of economic growth, as one job created in this industry generated four other jobs in the tributary industries.
"In terms of economic effects, the privatization of Automobile Craiova is more important that the privatization of BCR, for which we obtained a record-high price in SEE," added Tariceanu.
