EnglishAccording to a press release, the Council of Competition authorized the acquisition of SC "ICIM Arad" SA by SC "Astra Vagoane Arad" SA. Following this takeover, SC "Astra Vagoane Arad" SA will indirectly gain control of the companies controlled by SC "ICIM Arad" SA: SC "CF 33 ICIM Arad" SA, SC "Somet" SA, SC "Cariera de Piatră srl", SC "Agregat Transport" srl, SC "Asfalt" SA, SC "Spiact Arad" SA, SC "Gutenberg" SA, SC "Utilaj Transport" srl, SC "Gest Klim" srl, SC "Expert Construct" srl, SC "YCY Construct" srl and SC "Aluterm" srl.
The analysis of economic concentration made by the Competition Council concluded that the takeover of SC "ICIM Arad" SA by SC "Astra Vagoane Arad" SA did not create or consolidate a monopoly on the relevant markets. Thus, even though this act of economic concentration is subject to the Law on Competition (no. 21/1996), there are no serious concerns on the compatibility of this merger with a normal competitive environment.
The main activity of the buyer, SC "Astra Vagoane Arad" (part of "International Railway Systems" - IRS), is the production of rolling stock.
The main activity of SC "ICIM Arad" SA is the construction of residential and non-residential buildings, of installation works as well as highway and road construction.
