After the Easter break, students from all over the country are returning to their desks today to continue their classes for the last module of the 2024-2025 school year, according to the calendar approved by the Ministry of Education and Research. According to the structure of the current school year, the duration of the classes differs depending on the level of study. For students in the 8th grade, the school year consists of 35 weeks and ends on June 13, to allow for the National Assessment. Students in the final grades of high school - 12th (day) and 13th (evening or part-time) - will complete their classes earlier, on June 6, and will then take the Baccalaureate exam. In contrast, students in high school - the technological track, as well as those in vocational education, will continue their courses until June 27, with a school year consisting of 37 weeks.
• Summer vacation begins on June 20 for most students
For the rest of the students, summer vacation will officially begin on June 20, immediately after the end of classes. This is the period in which celebrations, end-of-year festivities and final assessments will be organized. According to the calendar published by the Ministry of Education, the next school year will begin on September 8, 2025, maintaining the modular structure introduced two years ago, with five course modules and five holidays distributed throughout the year.
• National "European School' Competition
On the other hand, schools can register until May 9 for the national "European School' competition, the Ministry of Education and Research announced. According to the cited source, for the first time this school year, applications will be sent in electronic format to the Ministry of Education. "Information regarding the submission of applications has already been sent to the school inspectorates', the MEC specifies. The "European School' competition aims to encourage the participation of pre-university and extracurricular education units in European programs in the field of vocational education and training.
The competition is addressed to all pre-university education units involved in the European programs in the field of vocational education and training Erasmus+ and consists of assessing the quality and coherence of school management, reflected in the management documents, as well as the impact that the activities carried out within the framework of European projects have had on the organizational culture and ethos of the school.
