In preparing government strategy for supporting SMEs and improving the business environment 2020 has uncovered two major problems: there is a very small number of active small enterprises, a very small number of medium enterprises and too few of these operate in production (most of them are involved in services and trade), and one in two of these companies goes under in the first year of life, says Anca Laura Ionescu, state secretary in the Ministry of the Economy.
In this context, the strategy seeks to increase the number of active companies, developing the existing ones and creating new jobs.
"We are hoping to complete this strategy within two weeks at the most", Mrs. Ionescu said: "The objective of the government is to develop an active, stable, transparent business sector, based on competitiveness and entrepreneurial spirit, to allow businesspeople to handle competition on a domestic and foreign level".
The representative of the Ministry added that the Executive has as its avenues of action developing and supporting companies, market access, access to financing and innovation.
Anca Ionescu also reminded that, on May 15th, the Government will launch the Cosme program for SMEs, worth over 2 billion Euros, which deals with enhancing and stimulating business competitiveness.
