THE STOCK EXCHANGE WILL GET A CEO The short list, in two weeks

The short list with the names of those who will enter the competition for the position of CEO of the Bucharest Stock Exchange could end up on the desk of the management of the BSE in two weeks, according to some stock market sources, who wished to remain anonymous.

The sources said that the recruitment firm (ed. note: Leadership Development Solutions) is looking for potential executives on six international markets. Even if the Board of the Exchange only received a few names, the recruitment process would continue and the list may see further additions down the road, the quoted sources said.

The management of the Bucharest Stock Exchange is waiting for the selection of the General Manager, so it can work with him on setting the quantitative targets of the strategy for the period until 2015, which was passed in the beginning of the year.

However, the pessimists do not believe that the recruitment firm led by Radu Furnică will be able to deliver a CEO in two and a half months, like he said in March. They claim that even if the recruitment firm did its job and the Bucharest Stock Exchange selected a new CEO, it is unlikely that he would be immediately available, and his arrival at the BSE could take several months.

In March, Radu Furnică said that his personal ambition was to find a Romanian CEO for the job.

Valentin Ionescu was dismissed from his position as CEO of the BSE in November 2011, due to failing to meet his contractual obligations. A group of shareholders had previously requested the change of the management of the BSE, which took place in the beginning of this year.
