Nicolae Iotcu, Chairman of the Arad County Council, has signed the permit for construction site preparation and provisional constructions pending the start of the construction works on the section of the Arad - Timisoara Highway located in Arad County. Gheorghe Falca, Mayor of Arad, last month signed the construction permit for the utilitarian roads to/from the construction site to be used by the Spanish-Austrian consortium FCC Construccion / PORR Technobau. The consortium won the contract to build the Arad ring road, which will be have the status of highway and be part of the Arad - Timisoara Highway.
The Arad - Timisoara Highway will measure 32 kilometres and cost 151.2 million EUR. The funds will be provided from a loan given by the European Investment Bank and from a budget allocation from the Government of Romania. The contract was signed in December 2008 and will complete in 24 months. The consortium formed by FCC Construccion - Spain and Astaldi SpA - Italy will perform the works and give a 24-month warranty.
The FCC Construccion / PORR Technobau consortium will build the Arad ring road at highway grade for 115 million EUR. The works will be financed by the European Investment Bank and be completed in 24 months.
