Cluj-based cosmetics maker Farmec has inaugurated Transylvania"s first laboratory able to evaluate conformity in the cosmetics industry, following a 90,000 EUR investment. Approximately 45,000 EUR from the total came from a co-financing program coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce. The laboratory can perform over 50 types of physical, chemical and microbiological tests for makeup products, skin care products, personal hygiene products and car cosmetic products.
A leading cosmetics maker on the Romanian market, Farmec concluded the first 9 months of the year with 2 million EUR in profit and 15.5 million EUR in turnover, up 14% y/y. Exports accounted for 12% of the total. The company estimates to invest over 12 million EUR in production capacities by 2010.
