Last year the turnover of Holcim Romania was of approximately 774 million RON ( 219 million EUR). This represents an increase of 28% compared to 2005, when the company reported a turnover of 603 million RON ( 166 million EUR). According to Markus Wirth, General Manager of Holcim Romania, the company spent, between 1997-2005, 334 million EUR for social and human resources projects, modernization of production technology, environmental protection and business development.
The most important project is in Campulung, where Holcim invested approximately 105 million EUR in building the largest grey cement production line in Romania and a pre-homogenizing silo for raw materials.
Last year 57 million EUR investments were made. According to Mr. Wirth, the Romanian cement market reaches a total sales volume of 7 million tons. For this year, he estimates an increase of approximately 7% in cement sales volume.
Starting with last year, the company offers a new service on the Romanian market, namely HolFresh, which is a mobile equipment, with a capacity of 10 cubic meters, which keeps the concrete fresh for half an hour, ensuring sufficient time for the preparation concrete forms on the construction site. The equipment can be rented from the concrete plants in Craiova and Bucharest.
Holcim Romania currently operates 3 cement plants, in Turda, Campulung and Alesd, 15 environmentally-friendly concrete plants, and 4 aggregates plants.
