EnglishPETROM will invest some 60 million EUR to align their refinery Arpechim to applicable environmental standards, according to Petrom Director Jeffrey Rinker. "The company"s development plan until 2010 includes major modernization projects for both refineries, the total budget being over one billion EUR. Some 200 million EUR will go towards Arpechim"s retooling and modernization. About 60 million EUR from that sum will be spent on environmental care," he said, adding that immediate eco-performance improvement measures would be completed in July. Rinker stressed that PETROM had no intention to sell Arpechim, but, on the contrary to implement a single management system for both refineries and build four new pipes between them.
