As part of the PHARE CBC/INTERREG IIIA Romania-Hungary 2006 Program, The Arad County Council has initiated the implementation of the Project "Rehabilitation of the DJ 792C Highway sector between Curtici - and the intersection with DN79, Second Stage". The County Council of Bekes (Hungary) is a partner in the program, the implementation of which will take 12 months. The total value of the project is 1.066.000 Euros, with a grant of 799.500 Euros, and the amount co-financed by the Arad County Council is 266.500 Euros.
"In the second stage of the project, a 3,693 km section of the total length of 7,2 km of the section between Curtici and the intersection with DN 79, will be rehabilitated", stated Ramona Creţu, spokesperson of the Arad County Council. During the first stage, 3,5 km of road were rehabilitated.
The rehabilitation of the county road DJ 792 C, on the section between Curtici - and the intersection with DN 79, is part of a joint concept of the counties of Arad and Bekes for the rehabilitation of the roads in the border area between Romania and Hungary. Two of the connecting roads, Variaşu Mic - Dombegyhaz and Grăniceri - Elek, were rehabilitated, on the Romanian side of the border, through the Romania-Hungary Phare CBC 2004 /INTERREG IIIA program, whereas, for the Curtici - Dorobanţi section, the Romanian Government has already approved its rehabilitation using the Budget Reserve Fund.
