Telemobil - Zapp has paid the first tranche for the recently won 3G license. The first tranche amounts to 10.5 million USD out of the total 35 million USD to be paid for the license. "Winning the license is our beginning in 3G services in Romania. We are the first operator in Romania to have introduced broadband services, we have a very good network and highly innovative technological developments and now we are ready to take on the commitment to build a next generation 3G network," said Telemobil CEO Piermario di Pietro.

Zapp will introduce video calls, mobile broadband and a rich multimedia content for affordable prices. "Our intention is that the introduction of our 3G services towards the end of 2007 should offer our customers the best 3G services on the market that meet their needs and expectations. This means that Zapp has a clear and detailed vision of what these services should look like and we are driving full speed ahead to make them available as soon as possible," di Pietro added. For the moment, Zapp operates a CDMA 2000 network in the 450 MHz frequency band.
