Cloud AI for Central and Eastern Europe

Artificial Intelligence can no longer be ignored. The Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization, Bogdan Ivan, stated that during the Summit of the Three Seas Initiative organized in Vilnius last week, he proposed on behalf of Romania the creation of an AI cloud intended to serve the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. This cloud, says the minister, would also become a support for private companies, considering the intensity of cyber attacks. According to the minister: "Romania faces an average of 25,000 to 50,000 cyber attacks every day. Of these, there are some that succeed, one in several hundred thousand. The energy infrastructure is a critical one. I don't feel very comfortable when I see that we had a massive attack on Nuclearelectrica. It's not the nicest feeling you can have. I don't want to imagine what it would mean to paralyze the electricity network in Transilvania or in Cluj, at least for an hour, not to have traffic lights, not you have internet, don't have anything. So, in this chapter, during the Summit of the Three Seas Initiative, which I attended yesterday together with the giants in technology, with heads of state from the 13 member states, I came up with a proposal very clear from Romania: an AI cloud to serve the entire area of the Baltic countries and of Central and Eastern Europe, precisely to give the possibility to companies, including those in the energy sector, to build this capability. You will not be able to put E. ON and all other operators to make their own cloud AI and operating system. No, it is enough to create the infrastructure, and they pay punctually as they use this online infrastructure. Because you cannot develop only the state and leave the private sector behind".

Bogdan Ivan also referred to the government cloud, launched in a public auction, which he said will have the most modern technology available worldwide and will include the cyber security component.
