In the debates concerning energy strategy, specialists from the Ministry of Energy intend to propose, encouraging the development of production sources based on biomass and biogas - renewable energy resources of which Romania has a considerable volume, said Felicia Răcăşanu, deputy director in the Ministry.
She said that Romania has attracted many new renewable energy capacities, but only in wind and solar parks, meaning that it now needs to encourage biomass, biogas and micro-hydroelectric plants more.
The representative of the Ministry of Energy stressed that the ministry supports the development of energy service companies (ESCOs) because, together with technical services, they also provide the financial instruments needed for the implementation of energy efficiency projects. According to the management of the Ministry, these companies also bring the guarantee that the energy savings associated with the projects will be sufficient to cover the costs for a certain period of time.
According to the quoted source, the Romanian market is not sufficiently developed on this segment, and the Ministry wants to encourage the development of energy service companies because they produce energy performance solutions.
