We need certain types of funds for the financing of the medium and small enterprises sector, says Peter Barta, CEO for the Post-Privatization Foundation.
According to him, "business angels" (informal investors) are "an element that is quite novel" in Romania. "There are some available funds for the development of schemes specialized for SMEs", says Peter Barta, who emphasized that the existing money should be used to co-finance that type of funds.
Venture capital funds would be another type of fund that may be created for the financing of SMEs, which targets an area that is not covered yet, and that type of instruments exist in the market as well, Mr. Barta said.
He stressed that in the USA, there is a bank that specializes in financing start-ups, which covers all the costs that such a business needs.
"I think that we currently have approximately half a billion Euros available for spending on the private sector, from the state budget and from programs for supporting companies, and I think that we can also use other types of financing instruments, which would ensure that leverage effect needed for a healthy system", he said in closing.
