Eleven companies have bought the tender book in view of participating in the tender for the project titled "The Rehabilitation of The Old Historical Centre of The Municipality of Arad." The overall value of the project is 54,649,323 RON, of which 3,808,712 RON as non-eligible value, 42,177,686 RON as eligible value and 8,662,925 RON as VAT.
The Arad Municipality announced intent to award the execution contract this autumn. "Both foreign consortia and Romanian companies have bought the tender book. We look forward to reviewing the offers, which have to be submitted until 24 September," said Gheorghe Falca, Mayor of Arad.
The sizable scope of the project has been divided into Part 1 - The Rehabilitation of The Old Historical City Centre and Part 2 - The Rehabilitation of The Tramway Tracks and Traian"s Bridge. The works allocated to Part 1 include the rehabilitation of Preparandiei Building (393 square metres) and 64,000 square metres of urban roads, as well as the construction of water distribution networks measuring 2.6 kilometres, sewerage networks measuring 3.8 kilometres, a rainwater drainage network measuring 3.6 kilometres, a cable television network measuring 7.1 kilometres, a telephony network measuring 6.8 kilometres and a street lighting system measuring 2.4 kilometres.
Part 2 includes the rehabilitation of the tramway tracks between the Serbian Square and Traian"s Bridge and the rehabilitation of the bridge itself. "The rehabilitation of Traian"s Bridge is very important as the bridge and the related tramway tracks will connect the historical city centre to the Aradul Nou District," Mayor Gheorghe Falca added.
The project has been selected to be part of the Regional Operational Programme and is co-financed by the European Union via the European Fund for Regional Development. According to Mayor Falca, this is the first project in the city and one of the few in the country to be financed with structural funds.
