"Apa Nova" Bucharest has scheduled investments amounting to 86 million lei for this year. Epsică Chiru, general manager of the company, has stated that the main objectives of the investment are the updating of the telescopic network, extensions and repairs of the water and sewer grid, the implementation of the computer systems, and the acquisition of new equipment.
Mr. Chiru added that, last year, "Apa Nova" Bucharest has made investments worth some 85 million lei. Some of the finalized projects include the rehabilitation of the electrical power stations (at the Arcuda Plant), the installation of two active granular carbon-based filters (at the Roşu plant), the modernization of the Aleea Trandafirilor pumping station for residual water and the upgrading of a hydrophore station. The company has rehabilitated 12,2 km of the water grid and 4,2 km of sewer grid. The water grid has been extended by 4,9 km and the sewer grid has been extended by 5,7 km. Epsică Chiru also said that in 2008, "Apa Nova" has replaced over 34.000 counters in Bucharest and has updated 29,6 km of telescopic network.
Mr. Chiru says that some of the investments started in 2008 will be continued throughout 2009. These include the computer assisted remote management for the hydrophore and repumping stations, and also the rehabilitation of the electrical stations of the Roşu Water Plant and of the Grozăveşti Pumping Station. The pumping groups will be replaced of the Drumul Taberei Station and the Colentina Sewage Water Pumping Station. The program for the rehabilitation and expansion of the water and sewer networks, as well as the updating of the telescopic networks will continue.
