The Brasov City Council convened and approved the content of the articles of association of the limited liability company "Aerodromul Iosif Silimon" S.R.L., which will manage the airdrome that the City is planning to build with the support of the Ministry of Transportation. The decision complements a previous decision authorizing the association between the City of Brasov and IAR S.A. - Ghimbav and the Romanian Air Club in view of establishing Aerodromul Iosif Silimon SRL. According to the articles of association, the City of Brasov holds 51% of the shares, IAR holds 44% and the Romanian Air Club holds 5%. The next step is the disbursement of the funds promised by the Ministry of Transportation. At such time, the City of Brasov will implement the utilities necessary for the airdrome. The Iosif Silimon Airdrome will be smaller than intended by the Brasov County Council.

The airport project was initiated following a request of the Board of Directors of IAR - Ghimbav for "improving the local infrastructure and satisfying the requirements of the business environment in Brasov." The airport will be located near the future Brasov International Airport to be built by IntelCan. The local authorities are confident that the two projects will integrate each other in the future.
