The National Regulatory and Supervisory Authority for Public Procurement (ANRMAP) yesterday issued a press release announcing intent to initiate legal action for the termination of the procurement contracts for special police cars signed by the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR) in 2008.
Following discussions on this topic during the Government meeting of Wednesday, 24 June 2009, ANRMAP announced that the authorities had decided to terminate the troublesome contracts. "The Authority is the only institution that can initiate the legal termination of the financial leasing contracts for special police cars signed by IGPR and Ager Leasing," said ANRMAP President Cristina Traila. The referred to Art. 1961 of Emergency Ordinance of the Government no. 34/2006 on Public Procurement as the legal basis for such action.
