Bucharest North railway station will be modernized and brought in line with European standards, trough a public-private parnership. According to Constantin Axinia, general manager of CFR SA, the feasibility study is currently in progress and it will show exactly what types of works can be executed, as well as the estimated cost of the investment. He also stated that the existing building will not be demolished, because of its historical importance. The interior will be entirely remodeled and modernized, the station will be expanded, the railway platform will be elevated and the stores and kiosks will disappear in order to make room for new spaces.
