EnglishThe Romanian mergers & acquisitions market is estimated at 6 billion EUR in 2006, down from 6.8 billion EUR in 2005, according to a market survey conducted by Raiffeisen Investment last year.
The results of both years were influenced by the MobiFon acquisition by Vodafone in March 2005 and the BCR privatization to Erste Bank in October 2006, which represented over half of the overall market value in each year.
Last year"s log indicates 166 mergers and acquisitions of which 129 were private transactions (not involving the State) up by 25% from 2005. As the privatization process is coming to an end, the number of privatization deals is decreasing but, the State still holds important assets to be sold.
