EnglishThe National Highway and National Road Company (CNADNR), through its Regional Road and Bridge Divisions (DRDP), has concluded road maintenance contracts during summer/winter, funded from the state budget. Following the signing of the framework agreement for a four year period, (2008 - 2011), each DRDP has already concluded the contracts for the 2009 - 2010 winter. According to data provided to BURSA by the management of CNADNR, the total cost of the maintenance works will be 782 million lei (over 182 million Euros).
This winter, the Regional Road and Bridge Divisions will spend the following amounts: DRDP Bucharest will pay 169,438,058.04 lei, DRDP Craiova - 166,226,081.64 lei, DRDP Timişoara - 55,989,666 lei. DRDP Cluj signed maintenance contracts for the winter of 2009-2010 worth 153,857,942.97 lei, DRDP Braşov -50,864,653.7 lei, DRDP Iaşi - 145,818,798.58 lei, and DRDP Constanţa 39,890,210.83 lei.
Almost the entire country was covered by thick snow yesterday, which road workers had trouble removing. Many cars and trucks got stuck in traffic, and trains were delayed for dozens of minutes.
