Romania"s Central Bank (BNR) will launch 250 gold coins on April 15th, on the occasion of anniversary of 170 years since the birth of Romanian king Carol I (Charles). Their face value is 500 lei.
The obverse of the medals will feature Romania"s emblem, the year they were issued - 2009, the nominal value, as well as the Peleş castle in a laurel garland. The reverse of the coin will feature the portrait of king Carol I and the large emblem of the Romanian kingdom, the years 1839 and 2009 on the left and on the right, and along the edges, the circular phrases "NIHIL SINE DEO" - at the top and "CAROL I REGE" (Charles I KING)- at the bottom.
The coins will be accompanied by presentation brochures written in Romanian, English and French. The brochures will include the authenticity certificate, signed by the Governor of the Central Bank and of the Chief Cashier of the Central Bank.
The coins will be put on sale in the Bucharest, Cluj, Iaşi and Timiş branches of the Central Bank under the name "The 170th anniversary of the birth of King Carol I".
